Retrace the steps of renowned Canadian artist, Tom Thomson, in the northwest corner of Algonquin Park, and discover first hand the evocative landscape that inspired him. Listen to the stories of mystery and magic surrounding this artist, and let your mind drift back to the time of the log drives, canoe guides and canvas tents. Let your creative spirit loose through a guided exploration as you experiment with watercolour paint, pencils and chalks.
This five-day, four-night experience is set at Northern Edge Algonquin's earth-friendly retreat center, the perfect sanctuary in which to reconnect with our creative natures. Accommodations here include comfortable sleeping spaces nestled on a forested hillside and vegetarian cuisine featuring organically grown foods.
This experience is open and promises great returns to all levels of artists, including novices. Each day, participants will be guided through a minimum of 3 hours of creative time, painting, drawing and collage-creating in both wilderness settings and back at the lodge. Other optional activities will include canoeing, interpretive hikes and campfire story telling. There will be plenty of opportunity to relax & rejuvenate by the lake or in one of our charming gathering spaces with a book, meditation or friendly conversation with other like-minded participants.
Talented visual artist and instructor, Jill Boschulte, will be your creative guide through this unique Canadian experience. Jill has lived in the region for 25 years and her work reflects an understanding and affinity with the rugged Canadian Shield. Jill's work has been exhibited in a number of public galleries throughout Ontario, and is currently included in a Canada-Cuba exhibition. Jill has taught in a variety of situations, and has worked with educators, college students, children, and artists. Her approach: everyone has a creative spark, and if given the right fuel and encouragement, a fire will ignite.
The conclusion to this one-of-a-kind experience will find participants leaving creatively and naturally rejuvenated.
