We will spend 6 nights in the wonderful and classic 13th century town of Mantova (Aldous Huxley called it 'the most
romantic city in the world' and with an Arabian nights skyline rising above its three encircling lakes, Mantua (Mantova) is
undeniably evocative.
We will stay in the Albergo San Lorenzo, lovely 4 star classic house situated in the ancient part of Mantua in one of the
interlinking cobbled squares retaining a medieval aspect.
From our location in Mantua each day we will tour some of this area's fascinating gastronomic delights – such as Parma
(for Parma Prosciutto and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese), the Riseria Ferron for a cooking class and dinner of the famous
Vialone Nano, and Arborio rice. (We will be invited to participate in 3 cooking classes/demonstrations).Modena (for the
best Balsamic Vinegar), Bologna (Italy's Gastronomic capital) and Sommacampangna for 'Merlini' mushrooms (dried and
sealed for travelling and at a fraction of the cost in North America).
