| Burgundy bears a heritage unparalleled in the history of France. The historic treasures found throughout this region are a testimony to its alluring past as the richest of the ancient Duchies. However, for all its ancient fame and riches, Burgundy still feels simple and rustic. Although Burgundy wines are rated amongst the best in France, it is also celebrated as a kingdom of French gastronomy. Burgundy fascinates with its medieval villages and history-filled towns, deep forests and extensive vineyards. All in all, Burgundy is warm and welcoming with the pleasures of the table in perfect harmony with its beautiful countryside.
We first indulge in a six day deluxe barge cruise aboard the beautiful 51 passenger
'Anacoluthe' in Bougival on the Seine River just north of Paris. We will travel aboard this deluxe barge enjoying gastronomic meals, local wines, sightseeing excursions and beautiful countryside. As we complete our 6 day cruise in Joigny (the Chablis region of Burgundy) we will be met by our coach and travel to Beaune, a wonderful Burgundian town in the middle of the prime vineyards of this wonderful region. We will stay in Beaune for five nights and tour each day to such destinations as Dijon, and the Maconnais with visits to several wineries. We will enjoy gourmet dinners each night after each day of touring. From Beaune we will travel through the ancient towns of Autun and Vezelay back to Joigny where we will spend two nights in this beautiful ancient medieval city and tour the Chablis region of Burgundy before returning to Canada from Paris.
It's a wonderful tour - Please take the time to read our 'Day by Day Itinerary' for all the details on this program.
